PASSAU, GERMANY — Saturday, December 5

Picturesque Passau, founded more than 2,000 years ago, is noted for its Gothic and Italian Baroque architecture. (See this PDF. Wow!) Our visit marks our movement from Austria into Bavaria, Germany and a chance to experience the subtle differences between Austrian and German culture. Not only do three rivers come together in Passau (Danube, Inn, and Ilz), several long — distance cycling paths cross here, including the Danube Cycle Path and the Salzburg to Switzerland cycling route. We’ll walk through the Old City taking in its baroque backdrop, high towers and picturesque squares, and visit St. Stephen’s Cathedral, home to the largest cathedral organ outside the United States. After visiting Passau’s Christkindlmarkt, we will head for our next port, Vilshofen.

Included Excursions

“City of Three Rivers” walking tour and Christmas markets OR Passau hike OR Passau bike tour
